Snow Report March 11th.

****Updated 10:39****

The temperature at 1650 metres is currently 7 degrees in the shade. Winds have increased and there are currently moderate to strong winds from the SW at the peak top. These winds could affect top lifts at Happo and Goryu and there will be some wind loading on the NE slopes.

Bluebird today with not a cloud in the sky. Temperatures in Wadano at present are 5 degrees with around 0 degree on top…nice groomers this morning that’ll be getting pretty slushy by the end of the day. Definitely spring here with birds every morning and insects starting to crawl out of their hideaways. Everyone’s hoping for another blast of Winter…but for now long groomers in the morning with jib & park sessions in the afternoon seem to be the order of the day…

Backcountry Travel Advisory:

The North face had good stability Sunday and it seems a lot of the new snow slides that were going to come down have done so. The South face has been looking pretty desecrated with a lot of cracks and holes opening up. Sunday nights heavy snow will be sitting on a melt freeze crust on the solar radiated South faces so small wet slides are likely with warming. Also watch out for wind deposited layers on NE slopes which could go especially with warming.

Avalanche danger has increased due to warming. Watch solar radiated slopes and rocks and cornices as they warm through the day.

Avalanche Hazard:

Alpine: Considerable
Tree line: Moderate
Below Tree Line: Moderate/Considerable (with warming)
