Hakuba Snow Report – 13th Feb 2012

Weather conditions: Some cloud, blue skies
New snowfall: 0cm
Snow depth: 150cm (Village); 330cm (Top of Goryu)
Beautiful sunny morning in Hakuba. No new snow over night with very low temperature since last night. The temperature meter read around -10 last night and maybe around -8 this morning.Forecast os saying that we are going to have a bit warmer weather this afternoon with 5c highest, and some snow fall around 6pm. This snow will contain a bit more of moisture today.

Wind direction will be all over the places. Calm west wind this morning and will be north wind this after noon. Towards tonight, it will change to South to South east wind, and will be back to West wind again tomorrow morning.

NO new snow reports from all the ski resort. But since it was a bit windy yesterday around Norikura and top of Happo, there might be some wind deposit.

Please be careful those places with unstable wind deposits. Some West wind yesterday and this morning will form some wind slabs, and it will be warmed up with this South wind and sun.

There was a big avalanche triggered by skier yesterday morning on North side of Happo. No one was hurt. Please be careful when you are traversing, and if you see someone is already dropping in on your below, do not traverse top of it.

Seems like we gonna have a bit warm days for next two days or so, and some god snow fall will be back this weekend. Stay safe and play more!
