Hakuba Snow Report January 16th

Some nice fresh lines again yesterday especially in areas of wind-deposited snow meant the smiles of late were still on everyone’s faces. The recent snow has left the resorts in great condition with groomed runs to the bottom in great shape and lots of features have enough snow now to make them interesting. Temperature dropped yesterday and we were at minus 12 in the valley around 9:00 PM and who knows how low it got to overnight.

A chillly morning this one but not too extreme; minus 8 at 1800m and -7 in the valley. No fresh snow down here but trace amounts at altitude. No wind to speak of in Hakuba but further north in Norikura winds are gusting. We have snow forecast today but with a high pressure system approaching we can’t expect too much…

TEMPERATURE IN THE VALLEY: -7

TEMPERATURE AT 1800m: -8

BASE DEPTH (GORYU):

220 cm at 1800m
90 cm at the base
