Hakuba Snow Report December 18th

High cloud today obscuring the mountains above 1800m but visibility on the skifields is fine. Light breezes from the South/Southwest and the forecast is for rain later turning to snow as it cools. 

Zero degrees at the top of Goryu this morning with our weather station measuring -3.7 at Happo-ike and its currently 0.5 degrees in the valley.

Still not a lot of snow on the weekly forecast unfortunately.

BACKCOUNTRY TRAVEL ADVISORY:

The snow over the weekend has had some time to start bonding to the crust below but there are still areas of instability in wind deposited pockets. Watch for skier / snowboarder triggered slides with in the new snow on these lee slopes and on solar radiated slopes. 
Caution around developing cornices.
