eather conditions: Heavy Rain in the morning, slightly clearing towards lunch and afternoon.
New snowfall: 0 cm
Snow depth: 110cm (Village); 260cm (Top of Goryu)
Not the best of news this morning – it has been a rainy morning in Hakuba early on. The day started out with heavy rain over the valley though the more encouraging news is that it has been clearing up – hopefully easing off and leaving the rest of the day to be cloudy, perhaps even letting the sun come through at times. In fact it looks like that has been happening already with some blue skies opening up and the sun shining down in places. The rain obviously hasn’t been doing the snow conditions many favors.

The base temperature is around 7C this morning with a high of around +10C forecast for a bit later this afternoon, so very mild. At the top is around 1C with light winds coming from the WSW.

Visibility is fair out there, and should get better as the day moves on.

Looks like we should see some sun and cloud tomorrow and Thursday with a chance of snow on Friday. While it looks set to get a bit colder later in the week it will still be relatively mild hovering around 0 degrees. For the next few days though this milder patch seems set to continue.

Keep your eye on the forecast for some snow on Friday though – let’s will it to happen!
