Good morning from Hakuba. It has actually been a snowy start this morning after the great sunny day that we had yesterday. The base temperature is around 0c with 2m of SW wind. The good news is that there was about 10cm of new snow on my car this morning.
Goryu is reporting 15cm of new snow on the top, 47 is reporting up to 25cm this morning – and so a decent haul there and a good surprise. This snow will likely change to rain this afternoon with the snow level rising to 2800m. Seems like we have no luck of fresh powder for a while, but keep our finger crossed, we never know what’s gonna happen with the weather patterns. Stronger winds are due to be with us as well this afternoon. Things are looking hopefully for later on in the week though and the beginning of the weekend with a possible chance of snowfall. Hopefully in the meantime we won’t lose too much of the base and get unstable snow layers from this rainfall. Visibility is poor today on the upper slopes but ok lower down nearer the village. |
