Hakuba Snow Report – 28th Feb 2012

Good morning and what an early morning it is here in Hakuba. Hardly a cloud to be seen into the distance and lovely blue skies above the Hakuba region making for a spectacular early morning backdrop this morning. It’s all looking very inviting. There’s going to be a lot of people out there today with cameras, that’s for sure!

Temperatures were right down overnight and it’s a cold start to the day at about -7 degrees but it will probably rise to around freezing point later on in the day today. It may well also cloud over though right now as I said there’s none out there so surely for at least the morning it is going to be a gloriously fine day in Hakuba.

There is no new snow at any of the resorts around the villages. We might get some slight snowfall especially higher up overnight tonight but like I mentioned in a previous report it looks very likely it’s going to be a mild week with generally clearer and dry conditions. Thursday in particular looks set to make it a warm start to March.

March often brings with it some good blasts of winter though, and of course the season stretches on until May and so there’s plenty left yet.
