Hakuba Snow Report – 25th Jan 2012

Weather conditions: Snow, cloud
New snowfall: 10 cm (village)
Snow depth: 100cm (Village); 220cm (Top of Goryu)
More new snow in Hakuba this morning with resorts around the village reporting up to 25cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes, and about 5cm or so down lower at village level early on. It has been snowing all morning and looks like it is going down good now on the upper slopes, and as forecast it is still looking promising for heavy snow tonight and decent snowfall over the next few days in Hakuba and Otari as well.

It’s keeping cold as well now which is more good news. -5 overnight in the village and it hasn’t really moved much during the day keeping cold at about -4 degrees currently. Not too strong a wind either at the moment.

So, lots of snow on it’s way over the next few days. Visibility out on the slopes is generally not good, but as time goes on more fluffy snow out there to enjoy. Hopefully good news of big snow in the report tomorrow, and it looks like the coming weekend will be a good one to be on the mountains.
