Hakuba Snow Report – 24th Jan 2012

Snow time this morning. Clouds all around and light snow falling but it looks like those clouds might clear away from lower slopes at least as the morning progresses. Happily it was a cold night overnight and it is still keeping cold in village at around -3 degrees this morning.

Just a few cm in town and at the resorts around the village, though just to the north in Otari, Hakuba Cortina has reported an impressive 30-50cm of fresh snow this morning and have updated that later this morning with another 5cm or so. The place to be for the goods now, but operations limited this morning with a number of courses closed.

Look for temperatures to drop this afternoon and into the evening again and then that heavy snow that looks due tomorrow. We should really be seeing significant accumulation from now until the weekend and indeed over the weekend as well. Hopefully the winds won’t make themselves much of a problem along with the snowfall.
