Snow depth: 45 cm (Village ); 115 cm (Top of Goryu)
It is going to be a blue bird day today here in Hakuba. The sun is shining and it is a cold crisp morning, with the snow all sparkling it looks very beautiful and very Christmas-y.

There is no new snow to report today here in the valley but up high there are some great powder and packed powder conditions. Still a bit sketchy on lower slopes that go right to the bottom as there is grass and some rocks still showing through. With a little more snow and some grooming this will not be an issue and we can safely ski top to bottom.

This weekend should be busier on the resorts as most people have their Christmas and New Years Holiday, so expect some crowds and maybe longer lift lines. In our experience though, a long lift line wait in Hakuba is 15 minutes. So really nothing to get worried about as there are many resorts and people generally get spread out on the slopes.

In terms of forecasted snow we are excited and still waiting for this heavy snow that has been on the forecast for what seems like a long time now. Tonight is supposed to turn into a full-on blizzard and that is due to continue right through until Monday. Hopefully upwards of 20cms will fall overnight and then much more beyond that – it is not unlikely that we get even more than that during a very short time period…

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
