Hakuba Snow Report – 1st Mar 2012

Thursday 1st March 2012, 8:53AM
Weather conditions: Fine clear skies with some wispy clouds
New snowfall: 0 cm
Snow depth: 110cm (Village); 285cm (Top of Goryu)
Snow continued to fall out on the mountains yesterday morning but it started to clear up around lunchtime and early to mid afternoon there was quite a bit of blue sky on show behind the clouds above the village, though it did cloud over a bit more later on in the afternoon once again.

Temperatures didn’t dip into the negatives overnight in the village and this morning it is around +2 degrees in Hakuba – destined to rise to around +7 degrees later on today. There’s lots of nice blue sky above the mountains this morning with some thin white clouds hanging around up above the village. Hardly any wind.

We can perhaps look forward to it being a bit colder tomorrow with a chance of snow in the morning though it might be more sleet down at village level.

Looking towards the weekend fairly clear conditions likely on Saturday and maybe some precipitation. Early next week it looks like it might be snow up top and rain down below, as the generally mind conditions continue, but let’s deal with that when we get a bit nearer!
