The snow sure is coming down hard this morning in Hakuba! The snow is falling at about 6cm per hour in a nice fluffy manner, really nice heavy snowfall. Due to the intensity of the snowfall, visibility is very limited out there this morning. Throughout the day the we are expecting a steady snow fall as this low pressure system sits over top of us for the next couple of days.
Overnight, 3cm-10 cm of new snow were recorded, but that has quickly increased with this mornings accumulation and will quickly add up to more as the days goes on of course. Temperatures will range today between -3 C and -6 C with a wind chill factor making it feel like -14 C. Winds will be coming from the W and WNW at a 3 m/s rate. Freezing levels will remain below valley level and right now it is about -5 degrees in village. We are expecting snowfall until Thursday where we will have an ease in precipitation over Friday with more snow fall in the forecast for Saturday. Sunday though is currently looking like it might bring us some clearer skies. |
