It is a cloudy morning today in Hakuba, although it looks like it is beginning to snow lightly. If the weather keeps cold we should start getting more flurries and more parts of mountain should open. It may warm up a bit on Wednesday then turn colder with more snow expected late in the week.
Currently open resorts are Goryu (just Alps Dai ichi pair lift), Hakuba 47 (line 8) and Happo One (just the Kurobishi Quad). You need to ride the Goryu gondola to access the upper run shared by Hakuba 47 and Goryu. To access the open terrain on Happo you will have to ride the gondola, take the alpen pair lift then ski down the Kurobishi Quad.
Over in neighbouring Otari, Tsugaike Kogen has also opened up with one top pair lift operating (accessed via the Gondola), so limited operations there as well.
Please do keep in mind that the snow is shallow and there are lots of rocks, shrubs and things poking out – what looks like powder may not be that deep at all.
Since the limited runs open the on the resorts, they are giving discounted ticket prices until the rest of the hill opens, which should be soon.
