Hakuba Snow Report – 12th Jan 2012

Weather conditions: Sun, blue skies and just a bit of cloud
New snowfall: <5cm (village)
Snow depth: 95cm (Village); 215cm (Top of Goryu)
Good Morning everybody! It looks like a great day for skiing and riding today with clear skies and cold temperatures throughout the night, ensuring that the recently fallen snow has stayed fresh.

This morning it is a chilly -13 C in the valley with a forcast high of +1. Up on the hills, it is projected to range between -3 C and -9 C with a wind chill making it feel like -13 C. There will be mostly clear skies and some cloud cover is expected later in the day. WSW to SSW winds will be present with a light 2m/s flow.

Yesterday there was a steady amount of snow fall with high gusty winds. Cortina tops the list once again recording 40cm new snowfall up top, with Goryu reporting a more modest 10cm, so there will be deep pockets of powder and some wind loading.

It is forecast to stay clear today with low freezing levels and some snow returning on Friday and a freezing level rising to 600m. To round off the week we are expecting overcast skies and sunny patches.
