There was a large skier-triggered avalanche reported yesterday on the North Bowls out of bounds and behind Happo One. Second hand reports indicated that it was triggered by a skier cutting across the top of the large steep headwall just above and lookers’ right of the Happoike Sanso hut at the top of the lifts and ran full path, crossing the river at the bottom of the valley.
No one caught; but a very close call. We will add details as and if they become available.
Take extra care out there today; winds were strong last night and remain strong on the ridges, heavily loading lee slopes that already have a deep persistent weak layer. – Bill Glude
