It is another sunny morning in the valley early on.There has been no new overnight snow on the ground and the nice and clear night continued to this morning. The temperature at the base is around -6c this morning. The forecast is telling us to expect things to warm up to around 5c this after noon and cool down to -6 or so tonight.
No snow I said but there has been a sprinkling on the hills and Cortina is reporting 15cm of fresh snow on the upper slopes and 10cm on the lower slopes, so perhaps pick of the day. There’s pretty much almost no wind here at base, NW 0.2m. Even at the 1400m level, SE 0.5m. SW at 4.5m at the 2100m level. Hope it will stay this calm all day. The great news is that almost all the weather forecasts are calling snow for tonight starting sometime between 6pm to 8pm all the way to tomorrow afternoon. Moreover, they are still saying that there’s a decent dump of snow due on Friday night too. This up and down temperature can be a good recipe for slides in some spots, so there’s a real need to be careful out there after the big dump. Let’s hope for great pow day tomorrow morning. |
