Hakuba Snow Report – 7th Feb 2011

Weather conditions: Lightly snowing. Over cast.
New snowfall: 10cm (upper); 3cm (lower)
Snow depth: Hakuba Goryu Top : 310cm [official]
Finally, after few days of great sunny weather, Hakuba is covered with white snow this morning. It seems like snow has started falling around 3am this morning, and still lightly snowing outside (9am). Snow accumulation is around 2 to 3 cm so far, and will be slowing down around 3pm or so according to the local forecast.

Currently, 0c at the base with 2.6m NE wind, and -4c at 1400m level with 1.2m SW wind. It seems calm up there until 1500m level, but it gets windy towards to 2000m level, up to NW 12m.

Last few days of sunny spring condition-ish gave us funny mix of soft spring style snow and hard icy spots here and there in the shades. Be careful of those ice patches covered with fresh snow today.

Forecast is calling another sunny day tomorrow and some snow this weekend. Hopefully it will happen. Keep play for snow and do some snow dancing out there.

Play safe and enjoy.
