21st Jan 2011

Weather conditions: Sunny
New snowfall: 5cm (Goryu top); 2cm (Goryu bottom)
Snow depth: Hakuba Goryu Top : 335cm [official]
There has just been a very small amount of snow accumulation since yesterday in Hakuba with Goryu reporting 5 cm on top and 1/2 cm or so at the base. Not even a dusting of snow on my windscreen this morning though. The sun is out with some clouds, beautiful weather here today with some great views and visibility. Makes a change after all the snowfall and cloudy conditions of late.

It is relatively mild, 0 degrees at the base and -5 at 1,400m.

Westerly winds are still blasting at altitude though have been calming in the last couple of hours.

The forecast is for the clouds to come back in and snow to fall again from the afternoon tomorrow. It looks like we should be getting some topups throughout the weekend but there’s also a chance of the sun shining through at times as well.
