It’s another busy one today and the roads will soon be crammed this afternoon for the big drive home.Snow started to fall yesterday afternoon as forecast and continued overnight leaving about 20cm of so of fresh snow on the top of Goryu and 10cm on lower runs. Hakuba 47 were reporting 30cm of new snow up there.Powder was nice – super dry – but didn’t last long on the resorts this morning though conditions should be good through the day.
Howling Westerlies up on Happo-ike – plus 20m/s, 12m/s on Usagidaira, whipping some snow around up there. Temperatures are cold too, -9.5 on Usagidaira (1400m) was the average overnight bringing in some nice dry pow, -2.5 at the Ski Jumps right now. Visibility is not the best at high altitude with all the snow whipped up, though fine lower down and no snow is falling now – big patches of blue sky actually and it looks like it might burn through and we may get a clearer afternoon…possibly! Snowmen on the forecast for tomorrow but doesn’t look like its gonna bring a lot. Possible clear days on Wed and Thu with temperatures warming up through this week. |
