Hakuba Snow Report – 11th Mar 2011

Weather conditions: Overcast
New snowfall: 25cm (upper); 20cm (lower) [Goryu official]
Snow depth: Hakuba Goryu Top : 310cm [official]
We have some more snow overnight, a little bit heavier this morning in the valley than yesterday but nonetheless reports at Goryu are of 25 cm up top and 20 cm below; the base there up top is 310 which is pretty good for this time of year.Hakuba 47 is also reporting 20cm while Cortina to the north in Otari is reporting 30cm on the uppper slopes of the resort. It’s great to see all the snow depth numbers increase rather than the other way round at this time of the season.

In the valley we’ve already cracked into positive temperatures, currently reading 1 degree at 760m and higher up is holding cold with -5.5 at 1400m. There is no real wind and visibility isn’t bad on the resort but is low at higher altitudes. No alpine views today, but the forecast is still for blue skies all weekend!

It depends where you look as to forecast for next week but some form of precipitation on the way Monday or Tueday lets hope the cold weather continues
