Hakuba White Christmas Special - in the Japan Alps

Make this Christmas one for the whole family to remember, with a weekend of fun in the snow, festivities and great accommodations at the Hakuba Mominoki Hotel. Come as a couple or bring the family for hot drinks by the fire and caroling around the Christmas tree on Christmas Eve.

Wake on Christmas morning to a western-style breakfast and open any stockings or presents you or Santa might have left under the huge Christmas tree. Then head out into the snow for that white Christmas that you made come true…on snowshoes for the Annual Evergreen Christmas Snowshoe Treasure Hunt. This is a great time for children of all sizes. Enjoy the silence of the snow blanketed winter forest and relax with spiced wine and cake while the children search in the snow for all sorts of goodies left behind on Santa’s whirlwind visit to the Japan Alps. Oh and of course don’t forget about sledding before returning to the Mominoki Hotel for a light lunch pre gingerbread house making.

Be careful not to spoil your appetite for the big Turkey dinner! After dinner those who would like to continue with the festivities can enjoy the Christmas cocktail party with live entertainment at the Mominoki Hotel Pub.

Hakuba Nightlife Options

The options are simple:

a. Go for a walk on slippery winter roads.
b. Visit one of the many popular smoke filled bars in town.
c. Join Evergreen on an evening snowshoe and chocolate fondue tour.

If you chose c. then you are very wise and we at Evergreen are happy to guide you under the bright stars of Hakuba. The walk is not strenuous, but just enough to work up an appetite for dessert fondue in a specially crafted snow shelter called a Kamakura in Japanese. It is not unusual to see wild badgers, rabbits, fox, mink and Kamoshika (Japanese mountain goat) while hiking on our tours.

Christmas Day Family Snowshoe and Treasure Hunt

The Christmas Day Snowshoe is a great activity that can be enjoyed by the whole family from ages 3 and up. On this non strenuous but very fun trip into the Japanese winter wonderland you can relax sipping hot mulled wine over a brandy Christmas cake while the children search for presents dropped by Santa on his whirl wind tour of the Japan Alps.

Day Snowshoe Tours

Evergreen offers snowshoe tours for the Hakuba region of Japan and can provide your group with all of the essentials: snowshoes, packs, lunch, gear, and transportation. Really, you couldn't do our tours for a cheaper price. The Hakuba area has endless trails on mountain ridges or through old growth forests, shrines, and we can show you natural hot springs not on the map.
