Come and explore the vast Hakuba backcountry and some of the very best powder skiing in Japan. The Japan Alps average 12+ meters of somewhat dry powder each year (see our Hakuba Snow Report), and no other mountain range in Japan has comparable terrain. Evergreen offers professionally certified avalanche guides (CAA), and seasoned backcountry guides for our Japan backcountry tours.

Hakuba Backcountry Course Level

Bunny Course (B)
For those who are just starting to explore the backcountry. An intermediate ski, snowboard, or telemark skill level and a solid fitness level are all that is necessary. Contact us about avalanche safety equipment and backcountry gear to bring.

Cost: 8,400 yen (Includes shuttle, guide and tax)

Fox Course (F)
These tours are for those who have had experience in the winter backcountry and are confident in their ability to ride in variable conditions.

Cost: 9,450 yen (Includes shuttle, guide and tax)

Kamoshika Course (K)
These tours are for the expert skier or snowboarder who has joined our Bunny or Fox tour. You will have to be fit and have experience in the backcountry to join in on these challenging and exciting trips into Hakuba's steep terrain.

Cost: 10, 500 yen (Includes shuttle, guide and tax) We will be updating our BC tour dates for the 2008/2009 season shortly. Please check back here or contact us for details. Guide, shuttle, tax and all the powder you can handle! (backcountry insurance additional 2,000) If you need necessary avalanche equipment, proper pack with backcountry essentials, or ski/snowboard gear, contact us. We can rent or sell at reasonable prices.

Hakuba Japan On-Mountain Guiding

Just by looking at the respective Hakuba Japan ski resort maps, you will notice months of possible ski and snowboarding options. Our Japan mountain guiding service finds the best Hakuba ski and snowboard runs based on your ability. We can guide your group to any Hakuba ski resort and and show you how to better understand the Hakuba mountains: where to find continuous north facing slopes, where to find nicely spaced trees with powder stashes, terrain parks, tasty restaurants/bars, and our staff is always good about giving advice for your time in Japan.
