Norikura Norikura is connected with Cortina and offers a family-friendly, or beginner-freindly resort with the majority of runs geared for easy and open turning styles. Norikura is cute and simple, and while other resorts in the area offer more dramatic runs, views and service features, Norikura has a sense of old-world Nagano charm. We like Norikura because the backcountry access is great for our snowshoe, avalanche courses, and backcountry tours. The resort only scratches the surface of the background mountains-- but the lifts provide great backcountry access for some of the best powder runs and views in the valley. After riding at Norikura or Cortina, our favorite onsens are nearby, and a few nice cafes as well.
