Hakuba and the surrounding Nagano region are rich in exciting mountain bike trails and offer numerous scenic trails for relaxing rides around mountain lakes and through small villages. In addition, there is a growing community of downhill racers, resulting in many new trail building projects, races, and annual events.

MTB Freeride

MTB Freeride Group in the AlpsFree Riding is just like the name implies, riding pretty much anything the area has to offer. Technical skill and balance are a prerequisite for this type of riding as we will be practicing narrow structure riding techniques, jumps, drops, steeps, hill climbing and cross-country riding. Shocks are not essential for this type of riding but it sure softens the impact for us mere mortals. The Free-Ride is an intense half-day tour that covers a huge range of riding techniques as well as a large part of the Hakuba area – you must be fit and ready-to-ride.

CAN I RENT A BIKE?

Evergreen has a great range of single and dual-suspension Specialized and Kona Bikes – don’t worry, we have a great ride for you! We don’t do general bike rentals, but rental is included in the price of your tour.

HOW LONG IS THE DOWNHILL TRAIL?

If you bombed from top to bottom you can hit it pretty fast. It is a 15-20 minute drive to the start-point. We do some training in advanced riding skills and cruise the top before breaking the trail into several sections.

WHAT ABOUT BAD WEATHER?

If on the day the weather is found to be too wet, EOC reserves the right to cancel the tour. In this case alternate dates may be offered or full refunds will be made.

MULTI-DAY TOURS

As well as the half-day and full-day options, we also offer customised multi-day tours. There is no better way to see the back roads of Nagano than on a guided mountain bike tour. From our centrally located base in Hakuba we can venture out on numerous extended day trips.

A moderate level of fitness and a desire to seek out the back roads of rural Japan are all that you need. We can create a custom tour plan for your group or you can inquire about or scheduled 3 day tour from Nagano to Hakuba via some amazing cultural and natural areas in Northern Nagano prefecture. Please contact us for further details.
