Avalanche Skills Training Level I

This two day course developed by the Canadian Avalanche Association standards will teach you the basics of safe travel in the backcountry, allow you to recognize avalanche terrain and make more informed slope stability evaluations. You will learn proper self-rescue and group management techniques for the backcountry.

21,000 yen (backcountry insurance an additional 2000 yen)

Includes

Textbook, two full days of instruction, lift ticket, tax, (equipment rentals separate)

Bring

Winter clothing for all conditions, warm hat or knit cap, goggles, gloves, skis, or board equipment, snowshoes or skins and climbing system, pack with shovel, probe, extra hat/gloves/vest, water, lunch and of course Avalanche Transceiver. Equipment sales at discounted prices for course students.

Alternate Dates

We can schedule alternate dates if you are able to gather a group of 6. Contact us for more information.

Extended Backcountry Field Day

hakuba powder snow pit Extended backcountry training day. Prerequisite; AST I. This extra day of field training is for those who want a chance to further their training in avalanche assessment. Practice slope stability tests, field observations, and route finding with the guidance and instruction of a CAA Level 2 professional.
